Kids and adults no longer have to be denied their favorite foods – they just have to be made differently with alternate ingredients. Some ingredients used can additionally help in healing eczema by hydrating the skin and reduce the itch. The taste of the alternate ingredients will grow on those on eating it. Over a period of time and with its assured benefits, they will no longer even realize those ingredients are not really second-best as they are even better.

1. Delicious smoothies
Those suffering from eczema can enjoy these amazing smoothies without having to worry about aggravating the condition:
- Blueberry and beet smoothie
Blend together ½ cup frozen blueberry, ½ avocado, 1 peeled and chopped beet, ¼ cucumber, 1 tablespoon of hulled hemp, 1 scoop of Hemp protein powder, and 1 teaspoon of Maca powder along with 1 and ½ cups of coconut water. Another option is to add about a ½ cup of kale, ginger, and a pinch of cinnamon and vanilla. This option is more palatable for adults. - Banana avocado smoothie
Banana is a boon for those who are affected by eczema. Rich in potassium, fiber, and nutrients, they are good for the skin too. Avocado is high in Omega-3 fatty acids and can help the skin to heal and repair. To make this smoothie, blend one ripe banana, ½ avocado, and 1 cup of almond or coconut milk. Use natural sweeteners instead of sugar. You can also enliven this smoothie with other eczema safe fruits and berries.
2. Eczema friendly cookies
It can be the toughest on parents when their kids have to be denied simple pleasures of growing up. Cookies today are laden with gluten and not recommended for children with eczema. Many parents’ zeal and innovation have led to many innovative recipes with alternate snacks for eczema that are safe for these kids, such as:
- Chickpea cookies
This is one of those snacks for eczema replace cookies that usually have gluten. To make this dish, soak 1 cup of chickpeas overnight, rinse, and cook till soft. Pulse it in a blender along with a ½ cup of almond or cashew butter, ¼ cup of maple syrup, 2 teaspoon of gluten-free vanilla, 1 teaspoon of gluten-free baking powder, ¼ teaspoon of sea salt. Finally, add 1/3 cup of chocolate and pulse couple of times. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Drop the batter in a cookie tray lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12 minutes. It will become crisp as it cools. - Sweet potatoes
Sweet potato is a safe alternative for potato and is full of nutrients and fiber. This dish can serve both as a snack and meal for eczema. To make this dish, prick 1 purple sweet potato in many points and wash and bake it for 4 minutes; turn it and bake again for 4 more minutes. Mash it with a spoon or fork and then mix 2 teaspoons of vegan yogurt, 1 teaspoon sun butter, a few chia seeds, cacao nibs, 1 sliced banana, and 1 teaspoon agave syrup. Mix well and eat. - Buckwheat Crepes
This is a gluten-free and nut-free snack for eczema. To make buckwheat crepes, mix 1 cup of buckwheat flour, ½ cup of rice flour, and ½ teaspoon of soda bicarb. Gradually add 2 cups of rice milk, 2 lightly beaten eggs, and a ½ teaspoon of vanilla essence. Make pancakes as usual and serve with maple syrup and sliced ripe bananas.
